Our Volunteers

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.

Carly Everitt, Board President

Carly has been a member of the Carbon Valley community since 2013. She and her husband of 22 years have one son who is 20. Carly has been a volunteer with the Carbon Valley Help Center since 2018. She loves volunteering in her community and giving back directly to those around her. When she's not volunteering at the Help Center, you can find her coaching softball for her niece's softball team, doing crossfit, and hanging out with her family.

Jack Frost, Board Vice President

Originally from the Hudson Valley, NY, I developed a passion for community service early in life while volunteering as a firefighter. That experience instilled a lifelong appreciation for the power of giving back. In 1994, I moved to Fraser, Colorado, where I spent time volunteering with the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). Later, while pursuing my college education, I continued to support others by tutoring and assisting fellow students in labs. My deeply held belief in the importance of service has led me to the Carbon Valley Help Center, where I am honored to help strengthen and uplift the local community.

Paul Sorensen, Board Member

Paul Sorensen grew up in the suburbs of Chicago before relocating to Southern California, then Tennessee, and ultimately settling in Firestone in 2013. He and his wife Julia, married for 35 years, cherish time spent with their three children, their spouses, and seven beloved grandchildren. With over two decades of dedicated service to the Firestone community, Paul has worn many hats—including Rotarian, Firestone Trustee, Mayor, and most recently, a member of the Help Center Board of Directors since 2023. His deep commitment to serving others has been a guiding principle throughout his life. “The Help Center is a vital resource to our community. My faith teaches me to look for ways to help others and serve to make a positive difference.” —Paul Sorensen

Bonnie Ginther, Board Member

Bonnie considers herself a Colorado native, living here the majority of her life. She has lived in Frederick the last 5 years. Since her retirement in 2016 from 30+ years as an executive assistant, she now devotes her time to volunteering. Besides her volunteering at the Help Center for the past year, she is also a volunteer for the Town of Frederick serving on the Arts Committee, working at the courthouse and helping with special events. Aside from focusing on community service, she loves sports, especially football, baseball and soccer, playing cards, crafting, scrapbooking and spending time with her friends, family and three granddaughters.

Sue Pilon, Board Member

Sue is honored to support the mission of the Carbon Valley Help Center, which provides vital assistance to those in need. She brings over 30 years of experience from her career in Human Resources with the State of Colorado. In addition, Sue has worked with the Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA), Colorado School of Mines, and Jeffco Public Schools, gaining a wealth of experience in public service and administration. Following her retirement, Sue found a new passion in volunteer work, beginning with Hope House of Colorado. There, she helped establish and grow the organization’s volunteer program and served as Volunteer Coordinator for more than six years. Today, Sue continues to give back to her community through volunteer roles with her church, the Town of Frederick, St. Vrain Valley Schools, and other local organizations. She also serves as the Board President of Brigit’s Village Apartment Community, an intergenerational, low-income housing development in Frederick. Sue is married to her husband Joe and is the proud mother of two adult sons and grandmother to five grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, spending time with friends, and cherishing moments with her family.

Anita Ray, Executive Director

Anita was born and raised in Chicago, Il. Her education background includes degrees in Food Science and Nutrition. She spent the early part of her professional career working in Food Product Development, for companies in the Food Industry, such as Kraft, General Mills and Nabisco. She relocated to Colorado from New Jersey with her husband and has lived in the Carbon Valley area for 25 years. They share three children, one daughter and two sons. Anita worked for Community Food Share, the food bank for Boulder & Broomfield Counties as Food Distribution/Agency Relations Manager. She has always been passionate about helping others and volunteering in the community. She has been a Girl Scout Troop Leader for many years, a volunteer in Parent groups at her children’s schools and a volunteer in her church community. She loves to spend her time with family, friends and traveling. She is excited to be a member of the team at the Carbon Valley Help Center.

Claudia Rivera, Bi-Lingual Resource Specialist

Claudia joined the Help Center in April 2024 as our part-time bilingual Resource Specialist. In addition to her work with us, she has been with Walgreens for 14 years. Originally from Los Angeles, Claudia has also lived in Florida and has called Colorado home for the past six years. She comes from a big family—one of seven siblings—with roots in Puerto Rico on her father's side and El Salvador on her mother's. Claudia and her husband are proud parents of three children. A true animal lover, she shares her home with four dogs. In her free time, Claudia enjoys nothing more than spending time with her family and beloved pets.
